Phoenix Games Acquires Emergency Series Developer Sixteen Tons Entertainment
German publisher Phoenix Games announced the acquisition of Berlin and Tübingen-based Promotion Software, including the gaming group’s core gaming label Sixteen Tons Entertainment and gaming division Serious Games Solutions for an undisclosed sum.
Founded by game developer Ralph Stock in 1993, the gaming group is best known for its Emergency series, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2018.
Launched by Flaregames founder Klaas Kersting in April of last year, Phoenix Games operates with the mission of uniting free-to-play developers under one banner to solve the common issue of raising capital among small and midsize studios.
In May 2019, Phoenix Games announced the acquisition of Well Played Games, a UK developer behind Warhammer Combat Cards.
